THE PHANTOM PENCIL: DRAWING UNDER THE SURFACE

with Alexander Mourant
Friday, 1 November
6.30-8.30pm

In this talk and drawing session, Alexander Mourant will contextualise and unpick his primarily photographic practice from the perspective of drawing for the first time. Weaving together selected works, he’ll speculate on the latency, appearance and influence of drawing on his process, thinking, making and research. The session will appeal to those with an interest in interdisciplinary practice and art history, touching on photography, photograms, performance, sculpture, film, failure, Land Art, crop circles, education, community learning and, of course, drawing. Following the talk, Alexander will lead a collaborative sensory drawing session based on a community learning programme delivered in Jersey, followed by a glass of wine.
