DRAWING AND GRAPHICS WITHIN ANTONI + ALISON

Antoni Burakowski is half of the local fashion institution Antoni & Alison. The two of them met when they were both studying at St Martin’s in the early ‘80s, forming a conceptual and playful approach that still applies after over 30 years of collaborating. Antoni’s drawings are direct and gestural, made with markers and biro and often incorporating text [“I’M SO VERY BOURGEOIS”, “INCREDIBLE THINGS ARE IRRESISTABLE’] . This talk is an insight into how drawing plays a part in collaboration and the design process within their groundbreaking fashion label. 

Bios:
Antoni studied fashion/textiles at St Martin’s School of Art where he met Alison Roberts (who studied painting). After leaving they set up the fashion label Antoni & Alison - a local (and national) treasure. In 2008 they were given M.B.Es for their work in Fashion and Photography. 2012 marked their 25th anniversary.
