Taking Lots of Lines for Lots of Walks

Anne Ryan, Kathy Prendergast and Guests

23 - 24 November 2024

Opening times: 3-6pm each day
Talk & Drinks: 4.30-6pm, Sunday 24 November

We are delighted that Anne and Kathy will take over the studio for a weekend of collaboration, between themselves and inviting guests to join them. The studio can be seen in full flow as their improvised and open-ended way of working takes shape.

Anne says this:

"Luci’s’ invite
has given us a great opportunity to make a two day drawing and sculpture project. Kathy and I like to walk and to talk. While we always have a destination in mind we often never get there, but this doesn’t matter. It’s all about the dérive, the saunter through the city. Not travelling from A to B but from A to G to Y to wherever.

Taking the long way round opens up space for the conversation and makes room for thoughts to grow. Sometimes we just stop to stand and look, as if the city is a stage set, and a long digression ensues.

For this project at Eye to Pencil we do not have any set ideas, we have some topics such as roads, walking, the city as a shared, unfixed set of places. We have some things we know not what to do with. We have materials found around the studio. We have words, roads, walking, digression, randomness…"

Bios:
Anne Ryan’s widely shown work is constantly playful and surprising, mixing up a wide range of materials and cultural influences into her ‘cutout’ constructions.
