Drawing Thresholds: (Re)considering the ‘traditional’, the ‘modern’ and the ‘contemporary’
Wednesday, 15 February, 10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
Location: Studio, 26 Exmouth Market, EC1 4QE
Taking inspiration from Artpedagogy’s Threshold Concepts for Art, this experimental drawing workshop will playfully explore (and challenge) notions of the ‘traditional’, ‘modern’ and ‘contemporary’. Participants will experience a range of approaches to making and thinking about drawings. In addition, the potential of words - within and alongside drawings, as lines and marks that shift and shape meanings – will also be called into play. Participants will be encouraged to work on a variety of scales using a range of media in both two and three dimensions.
Materials are included.
Note: STUDENT/UNWAGED discount of 33%

Access: The studio is on the 1st floor with no lift
Chris Francis Bio:
Chris Francis is an arts educator, illustrator and co-founder of ArtPedagogy and PhotoPedagogy, two popular online resources for artists, educators and students. Chris best summarises his creative practice as ‘serious mischief’ – an ongoing quest to unpick art and art education via thinking hard coupled with less predictable actions and collaborations, be it material-led play, automatic drawings, collaborative interventions, or throwing a timely spanner in the works.
