What You see is not what You look at
Tuesday, 7 March, 6.30-8pm
Location: Studio, 26 Exmouth Market, EC1 4QE
Markus Vater has always believed that our minds and bodies construct our world. Our survival depends on the relevance of the construction, on the way this construction is working. He is also interested in the way we construct, and the holes within these systems. He likes to look at language and at metaphors, at causality, and all kinds of systems that help us navigate and try to look from different perspectives - look for example at Markus’s animation Tear.
But as Gerhard Richter has said: “Painting has nothing to do with thinking, because in Painting the Thinking is the Painting”. So, the talk will be centred around Markus’s practice, with a focus on drawing and exploring different aspects within it.
