DIGITAL DRAWING... EVERYDAY THEATRE

How can we utilise digital means as a tool to create and further ambitious compositions? In this workshop, Areena will lead us through an essential part of their painting practice: digital drawing. Through a series of activities, we will explore image editing tools and their endless potentialities, first making our own drawings and then manipulating/stretching them through methods including collage, blending effects, directly drawing onto images, brush tools and adjusting light.
Participants are asked to bring five of their own reference images and two stories (personal, imagined or existing literature) to inspire their compositions. A phone, computer or tablet with an editing software is also essential.

Bio:
Areena Ang is a visual artist based in London. They paint anthropomorphized, surreal objects in their exploration of ‘queer materialism’. Embodied with a confessional quality, these initially plain-seeming objects become increasingly abstract upon sustained observation, transforming into compositions that are compelling, strange or even sardonic.
